German - Late 18th and early 19th century
Literally, 'farce with singing'. Popular entertainment associated with Vienna, Berlin and Hamburg. Similar to the Singspiel, but with more action and less music.

  • Lokalposse: concentrating on daily life themes, associated with the playwright Karl von Marinelli
  • Situationsposse: concentrating on social situations
  • Zauberposse: concentrating on magic
